Commissions Programme

The programme gives choreographers time and space to develop and grow their creativity whilst producing new works. Applicants are invited from graduates, young practitioners and mid-career artists. Works will later be presented online or in The Court Theatre.


ANNOUNCING: DIGITAL4 COMMISSION

We are delighted to announce the recipients of the Digital 4 commission call out. The following five dance artists/companies will be commissioned to create digital works, to be presented as part of the Online Platform. An additional commission has been awarded for this project. Second Hand Dance

Second Hand Dance is a disabled-led dance company. The company’s vision is a world where dance, empathy, play and exploratory movement are central to the lives of children and adults, as vital and fluent as language.

AWA DANCE

AWA DANCE (Advancing Women's Aspirations with Dance) was founded by Avatâra Ayuso. AWA DANCE is dedicated to the leadership development of all women and girls, using the transformative power of dance as a tool to empower their voices. 

Hip Hop Knights

Banxy will be directing the Hip Hop Knights commission. Banxy is known in UK hip hop dance. Having trained at Swindon Dance, the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and the London Studio Centre, he has spent the last 15 years teaching and performing.

Henry Labrada Rodríguez

Henry is an interdisciplinary performer, choreographer and electronic music producer. After completing his studies at the National School of Dance in Havana, he has since worked with Danza Contemporánea de Cuba and Theo Clinkard among others.

Tangled Dance Company

Tangled Dance Company create site-specific productions in parks, gardens and heritage buildings in the North West of England. Tangled's productions capture enchanting tales and invite those of all ages to become a part of the magic.

Thomas Page

Thomas is a contemporary dance artist from Oxford and the Artistic Director of Thomas Page Dances (TPD). During their final year of training at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Thomas became a FreeSpace Artist of Studio Wayne McGregor.

Edd Arnold

Edd was born in Bristol and began to dance through B-boying, guided by Jôel Daniels and Wilkie Branson. From there Edd joined the Centre for Advanced Training at Swindon Dance. Also, joining the National Youth Dance Company where he worked with Jasmin Vardimon and Akram Khan.

James Wilton

James Wilton Dance was founded in 2010 by choreographer James Wilton and dancer Sarah Jane Taylor. The company has won awards at the Bern, Hannover and MASDANZA International Choreography competitions and the Sadler’s Wells Global Dance Contest.
